Abstract
The construction and composition of the international system is in a stage of transformation, where the world is facing the emergence and rapid development of the emerging and ground-breaking phenomenon of artificial intelligence. Meanwhile, many governments and rulers are trying to control and reduce its spread and consider its emergence and development as a double threat to the existence of governance, while others consider it an opportunity for growth and development. The main purpose of the present study is to examine and evaluate the opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence for governance in the theoretical field and also to examine its concrete examples in the West Asian region. The research findings show that the competition in the region over the future of artificial intelligence is not only a technological competition, but also a test of political will, strategic foresight, and the ability of countries to adapt to dramatic global changes. The introduction of artificial intelligence technology to the West Asian region will have both positive and negative consequences for these countries. On the one hand, artificial intelligence can facilitate the process of sustainable development in the countries of the region by developing economic, technological, environmental, educational and cultural infrastructures, and on the other hand, the use of this technology in the military, security, economic and commercial fields can disrupt the regional balance and lead to the supremacy of leading countries in artificial intelligence technology and also become a laboratory for global powers to engineer technological conflicts. The research method is qualitative, descriptive-explanatory and the data collection tool is the use of library resources and texts and cyberspace.
